Broadwell Amateurs claimed their first County League win of the season at the sixth attempt when they won 2-1 at AEK Boco.

Like AEK Boco, Broadwell had managed just one point from their opening five games so to score after just two minutes was a dream start for the visitors after Liam Thomas capitalised on confusion in the home defence.

And the sceond half started almost as well for the visitors because in the 50th minute they were awarded a penalty.

Cash Vernall was brought down but unfortunately he did not make the home side pay as he smashed his spot-kick over the bar.

Fifteen minutes later Broadwell did get their second goal, however, when Kristian Burnard broke down the right and his cross was turned in by Harry Williams.

AEK Boco were back in it five minutes later when Sam Hippisley netted from a corner but although Burnard was sent off 12 minutes from the end Broadwell held on for the win.

Hardwicke claimed their second league win of the season with a 3-1 success over Southmead CS Athletic.

The game was a home fixture for Southmead although the game was played at Hardwicke because of Southmead’s problems with their pitch.

Southmead started brightly and Ernesto Correia went close with a cracking left foot drive which curled round from the right side of the box.

At the other end Jamie Ractliffe’s shot was only just wide before Remi Ferguson went close for Southmead.

On 22 minutes Southmead had the ball in the Hardwicke net but it was ruled out for offside and with Southmead, who are still looking for their first County League win this season, having the better of the play at this stage Hardwicke keeper Jacob Hobbs had to be at his best as he pushed Ferguson’s shot around the post for a corner.

Leon Clayton-Clark and Jamil Choudhury also had chances for Southmead so it came as something of a surprise in the 34th minute when Hardwicke went ahead.

A ball into the centre just outside the Southmead box was misjudged and Will Matthews pounced to hit his shot into the left bottom corner, the ball striking the post on its way in.

Seven minutes later they were two ahead through Jamie Ratcliffe when a nice bit of skill saw him round a defender before squeezing the ball in from a tight angle.

Hardwicke began the second half well and Southmead keeper Elvin Quale was certainly busy with Tobie Webb among the players denied.

Southmead gave themselves hope when they pulled a goal back on 57 minutes through Remi Ferguson and home keeper Hobbs then fisted away a curling free-kick from Leon Clayton-Clark.

But Hardwicke wrapped up the points in the 89th minute after a good interchange of passes between Matthews and Webb ended with the latter getting the final shot past Quale.

Frampton United moved up to second place into the table with a 2-1 victory at home to Henbury although they were pushed all the way.

Ryan Vincent had the first chance for the home side after 20 minutes but failed to get his lobbed effort over Henbury keeper Cameron Tarr. The visitors then created several half chances but failed to put them away.

A minute into the second half Tarr made a tremendous save to deny Manolo Espada and the visitors took the lead on 74 minutes when Ross Jones headed in from a corner.

Two minutes later the home side were level as Nathan Dennis fed Nathan Payne who crossed the ball into the box for Ryan Vincent to turn in.

And with just three minutes left the home side grabbed the winner when Manolo Espada smashed home Ryan Vincent’s cross.

Gala Wilton are still looking for their first league win of the season after going down 2-0 at home to Wick.

It was another decent performance by Gala but they were undone by goals from Shaun Morris and Grant Hewitt.

Ruardean Hill Rangers are through to the second round of the GFA Challenge Trophy after beating Toolstation Division One side Longwell Green Sports 3-1 at home.

Rangers began on the front foot and only a last ditch-tackle denied Luke Johnson a goal in the second minute.

However Longwell were ahead in the 15th minute through Hayden Coghlan and although Luke Brown went close with a free-kick the visitors were still ahead at the break.

However Rangers were level on the hour when Dan Mason’s cross was turned into his own net by a Longwell defender and they were ahead seven minutes courtesy of another own goal.

This time it was after Luke Brown had crossed and it was Brown who sealed the game late on when he ran through and lobbed the ball over the visiting keeper.
