Frampton United jumped ahead of Hardwicke and into the top six of the County League after defeating them 3-1.

Stuart Maule hit the post for Frampton on 12 minutes but the visitors went close themselves eight minutes later when Craig Harris shot just wide.

Kris Bulley found himself clear on goal for the home side, but his shot was well saved by the keeper. However, Frampton were not to be denied for long, as they went ahead from the resulting corner through a fine 25-yard curling shot from Manola Marquez Espada.

Another corner on 34 minutes brought a second for the home side as Stuart Maule volleyed home. Frampton went 3-0 up in the 50th minute when Lewis Wilton broke into the box and was brought down, and Matt Cook netted the resulting penalty.

Rick Mansell then struck the top of the bar on 65 minutes for the visitors, and on 78 minutes they pulled a goal back when Rob Hine headed home from a corner. They almost grabbed a second two minutes later, but Paul Carter’s free-kick went just the wrong side of the post.

Broadwell Amateurs are two points and two places better off than Frampton but had to work hard for their 2-1 win over struggling Patchway Town.

The home side got off to a great start scoring after just five minutes, when Kristin Burnard’s low cross into the box was turned in by Harry Williams.

Patchway’s Dan Reece went close on the half hour and Broadwell’s Jori Sheen saw his header skim across goal and just outside the post. On 42 minutes Broadwell grabbed a second following a cross into the Patchway box, which Liam Thomas volleyed home.

The visitors lifted their game in the second half and Dan Reece hit the upright on 60 minutes, and then five minutes later they pulled a goal back when Rob Foster outjumped the home defence to head home.

After their previous week’s performance at Rockleaze Rangers, Gala Wilton must have fancied their chances at home to bottom club Hanham Athletic, but in the end they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

It was the visitors who had the ball in the net first, but their effort on 26 minutes was disallowed after the referee spotted a push on a Gala defender.

Hanham were reduced to 10 men after 63 minutes when goalkeeper Max Heaven rushed out of the penalty area and handled the ball, but the home side had to wait until the 80th minute to break the deadlock, when Peter Boyle raced through the visitors’ defence to place the ball past the stand-in keeper.

It looked as though that would be the only goal of the game until the very last minute, when Jack Fry volleyed home to snatch an unlikely share of the spoils.

In a largely uninspiring game at Ruardean Hill Rangers, Stonehouse Town kept on the heels of the top two with a slender 1-0 win. The goal came in the 28th minute – a volley by Michael Ashton-Hurst from the edge of the box.

County League results: Broadwell Ams 2 Patchway T 1; Frampton Utd 3 Hardwicke 1; Gala Wilton 1 Hanham Ath 1; Henbury 2 Kingswood 0; Little Stoke 2 Lebeq Utd 0; Ruardean Hill R 0 Stonehouse T 1; Southmead CS Ath 2 Rockleaze R 3; Thornbury T 4 Wick 1.
