Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice’s annual charity cycling event Ride for Ryder is back to celebrate its 30th year of bike riding raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for the local hospice charity.
And it has a special discounted sign up offer for all cyclists who sign up online before midnight on 30th April of £20 for its 90km and 130km distances and £7.50 for its 40km ride.
Established in 1988, the Ride for Ryder charity cycling event is estimated to have seen some 8,000 cyclists-plus ride thousands of miles in support of the local hospice, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for specialist local hospice care along the way.
Matt Reay is the fundraiser responsible for organising this year’s event. He said: “Most people mark their 30th year with a big celebration and that’s exactly what we are planning for 2018’s Ride for Ryder.
“We’re doing all we can to make this year’s cycle ride the biggest and best yet and it promises to be a great ride out with a fantastic atmosphere.
“We want to encourage as many cyclists as possible to join us for our big 30th ride out in the Cotswolds – from beginner to hobbyist to professional cyclist. That’s why we’re offering an early bird discount to people signing up online now.
“Everyone registering online will also receive a free hot meal voucher for a tasty meal post-ride to enjoy in the surroundings of the first class sporting facilities at Dean Close School.”
The professionally-run cycle event is suitable for novices right through to more seasoned cyclists, starting and finishing from Dean Close School in Cheltenham.
It takes place this year on Sunday 24th June. It’s a charity cycle ride raising funds for the only hospice in Gloucestershire with inpatient beds. All cyclists gaining £135 or more in sponsorship will receive a brand new exclusive Sue Ryder cycling jersey.
Elise Hoadley is hospice director at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. She said: “It is quite incredible to think we have been running this cycle ride for 30 years now.
“It’s becoming quite the Cotswold charity cycling tradition and we’d love nothing more than to welcome back lots of our past riders and new riders too to help mark this very special occasion – retro cycling clothing and vintage bikes optional!”
“Every mile cycled and every donation secured will raise funds so we can continue provide specialist expert care for local people and their families at a time they need it most.”
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice cares for local people with conditions like cancer, heart failure, lung disease and neurological conditions.
