Big Bash star Andrew Tye signs for Gloucestershire Cricket
Author: Contributed, Posted: Wednesday, 10th January 2018, 13:30
Gloucestershire are delighted to announce the signing of Andrew Tye for the T20 Blast in 2018.
Tye, whose impressive performances have earned him a call-up to the Australia one-day squad to face England later this month, will join up with his Gloucestershire team-mates prior to the T20 Blast campaign which starts on Friday 6th July.
The 31-year-old will be a familiar face to Gloucestershire supporters after impressing for the club in 2016, taking 18 wickets.
Tye has been in fine form in the Big Bash with the Perth Scorchers. At present, he is the leading wicket taker in the 2018 competition, with 16 wickets to his name.
Tye said: “I’m delighted to sign with Gloucestershire for the T20 Blast.
“I enjoyed my time at The Brightside Ground, Bristol, and Cheltenham Festival in 2016 and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Gloucestershire crowds again.
“With us reaching the quarter-finals in 2016, I want to go one step further this summer and make it to finals day.”
Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson said: “It’s great to have AJ back with us for this year’s T20 competition.
“It was unfortunate he could not join us last year due to injury but since coming back from his shoulder surgery he has performed exceptionally well, earning a call-up to the Australian ODI squad against England.”
“We are looking forward to him contributing for Gloucestershire this season.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
