Langford thumped Stroud 2nds by 132 runs to wrap up the Division Five title in the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League with three rounds of games to go.

The village side compiled a useful total of 191-8 with skipper Tom Stevens (51) and opener Will Parsons top scoring before Stroud were rushed out for only 59, Harry Puffitt and Angus Findlay-Wilson bagging three wickets apiece.


That result, combined with a 14-run reverse for nearest rivals Minchinhampton at home to Tewkesbury 2nds, mean pacesetters Langford cannot now be caught.

Matt Cox was the hero for Tewkesbury, top scoring on 83 after opening and following up with a terrific spell of 4-17 from nine.

The most remarkable figures of the day, though, belonged to Brendan Low who sent down seven maidens in a nine-over masterclass, claiming 1-2!

While the Division Five championship is done and dusted, the Division One title race remains wide open with only ten points separating the top four with three games remaining.

Lydney remain well in the mix following a nine-wicket humbling of Gloucester AIW Sports, Jack Knox capturing 5-29, as do Westbury-on-Severn despite a two-wicket home setback against Redmarley for whom James Holland and Ben Gwilliam hit half centuries as the points were banked with four balls to spare.

Cam are all but the Division Two champions following a 37-run derby triumph over Oldlands, Ryan Western capturing 5-28 from nine.

Poulton remain second after edging Tetbury by 43 runs while Hatherley and Reddings 2nds remain in contention following a 49-run home win over Gloucester City Winget 2nds, Owen Price (4-32) and Ben Myatt (3-17) both shining with the ball.

The Division Three promotion race tightened with leaders Ullenwood Bharat going down by eight wickets at third-placed Woodpeckers.

There were three wickets apiece for Rob Cockburn and Simon Bennett who then guided Woodpeckers to the points with an unbeaten 74.

Shurdington remain second thanks to a four-wicket home triumph over Frocester 3rds, Jack Styman (3-26 from seven) the pick of the attack.
