Chairman Adrian Knox delighted as Lydney Cricket Club are flying high
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 30th June 2017, 09:00
So far so good for Lydney Cricket Club as they look to make a speedy return to the Gloucestershire Division of the West of England Premier League.
They are top of Division One of the County League after winning seven of their first eight games and they will be hoping to cement their position at the summit when they host fourth-placed Charlton Kings on Saturday.
New chairman Adrian Knox, who is also captaining the 2nd XI this season, said: “It’s very good, I’m over the moon with how the first team are doing.”
Knox’s teenaged son Jack, an off-spinner who can bat, has broken into the 1st XI this season and his proud dad said: “He’s bowling alright and he’s getting some runs too.”
So how is dad faring in Division Three of the County League this season?
“We’re going okay,” he said, “we’re mid-table.”
And what about on a personal level?
“I’m getting a few runs, but I haven’t got any big scores,” he said. “Mind you, I got a dreadful LBW decision on Saturday!”
Knox is also enjoying being chairman of the club.
“I think once you’ve got it, you’ve got it for life,” he chuckled. “Yes, I’m enjoying it and I’m happy to do it for as long as they want me to.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
