The members of Overbury Bowling Club will be hoping that the glorious weather that we enjoyed in parts of February and March returns in mid-April.
That’s because their new season gets under way on Sunday 14th April.
The club is situated at the heart of the beautiful village of Overbury with outstanding views over towards Cleeve Hill.
They take part in senior, mixed, ladies’ and men’s friendlies as well as men’s and ladies’ league matches throughout the season, as well as entering for various county matches.
“We have done well in the past [in county matches] and hope to capitalise on that success this season,” said vice-chairman Sandy Mace.
“Last season the club gained 15 new members and we hope that they will contribute to that success this year.”
The club are hoping to recruit more members and are holding an Open Day on Sunday 19th May starting at 2pm, for anyone who has in the past thought about trying out the sport but never got around to it.
The club have two qualified coaches and all the equipment needed to get you started.
“Every Monday evening is club night where members can practice, receive coaching, play friendly matches and/or just socialise at the club or in the licensed bar,” added Mace.
“Wednesday mornings are allocated for club members to play friendly matches and to get to know the other members. Whenever the green is not allocated to maintenance, matches or club activities, it is available for members to use for practice.”
