Your chance to play bowls at a ‘hidden gem’ in the heart of Gloucestershire
Author: Contributed, Posted: Wednesday, 9th August 2017, 09:00
The weather may not have been great recently – okay, so that’s a bit of an understatement! – but that’s no reason not to get out and about.
That’s the view of Falcon Bowling Club, the “hidden gem” in the heart of Gloucestershire.
“We are always looking for new recruits, especially from the local community,” said a club spokesman.
“Falcon Bowling Club are without a doubt Painswick’s hidden gem, so why not come and check us out?
“We have an idyllic setting behind The Falcon Inn and you’ll receive a very warm welcome. Playing bowls is a great way to stay active longer, so why not have a go?
“At Falcon throughout the summer we have ‘Bowl Free Friday’ where non-members can join in our club afternoon and try bowls for free.
“All ages, and abilities are welcome. All you need is flat footwear. We start at 2pm and go through till about 4pm.”
Falcon Bowling Club’s free taster sessions are being supported by Age UK Gloucestershire.
“It’s a beautiful venue steeped in history and Jon Ellis will make sure you have a great afternoon,” said Chris Walker, Volunteering and Partnerships Manager for Age UK Gloucestershire
“I’m looking at setting up a few team sessions between partner organisations, so if anyone is interested please let me know.”
Contact Chris Walker on 01452 420924 or 422660 or Jon Ellis on 07950 558682.
Falcons Bowling Club is one of the oldest bowls clubs in the country with the bowling green recorded as being in place as far back as 1554.
The club currently have around 80 members and also run competitive men’s and ladies’ teams.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
