It’s back-to-school month, which is great for parents, but a not-so-happy occasion for the kids. For those holding out for a hero, the gadget market certainly has some crusaders that might be able to save the day!

Spiderman App-Enabled Superhero
The teenaged web-slinger has made another return to the silver screen with this year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and is officially part of the Marvel Avengers franchise. Now, at £149.99, you can have your own mini Peter Parker, with the Spider-Man App-Enabled Superhero. By installing the app on your phone and connecting via Bluetooth, you’ll see this voice-activated hero come to life.

This Spidey comes with 100 different jokes, 20 stories, 15 games and 25 missions to complete. He has web connection (get it?) and is compatible with iOS and Android. You can team up to battle villains and even create your own superhero identity. His spidey senses also come in handy as a motion detector, keeping him on guard. The miniature Spider-Man will seem even more alive thanks to his cool LCD screen eyes, so he can show you exactly what emotion he’s feeling – so try not to annoy him!

Dancing Groot Speaker
Another Marvel character is the tree alien of very few words, Groot, who quickly became almost everyone’s favourite member of the Guardians of the Galaxy team. Although in Vol.2 he has noticeably downsized, Baby Groot has only gotten more lovable. In his adorable baby form, little Groot makes for an awesome sidekick and funky little music speaker.
Sat upon his cassette, Groot dances along to your tunes of choice, with the speaker also including the ‘Come A Little Closer’ track from the movie. Just connect via the AUX to play your songs, and use the built-in microphone for hands free calls. And, of course, he comes with his classic – and only – catch-phrase, ‘I am Groot’. At £39.99, this funky little dancer will make you want to dance along too.

Batman Projection Torch
If you prefer your super-heroes more brooding and hiding in the shadows, then you probably lean more towards DC’s The Dark Knight. At £6.99, summon the swift vigilante with his classic calling card, the Bat Symbol. By projecting the Bat Symbol onto a flat surface, you get a full projection of Batman’s mark, which strikes fear into the hearts of Gotham’s criminals.

Pocket sized and fully portable, with batteries included, this is a fun, cheap little gizmo to play around with. For the full effect, use the projection torch in a dark room, or at night. It makes for a cool keyring accessory, which may just come in handy if you’re holding out for a hero. Great for kids – and adults who are kids at heart.
