Cavendish House – an exciting opportunity

After an impressive 201 years of trade, Cavendish House is closing its doors in April this year. An iconic building at the centre of our town and the source of many happy memories for not just residents but visitors of Cheltenham. It would not be inaccurate to describe this as an ‘end of an era’. But when an era comes to an end, it allows for exciting beginnings.
Ideas for this plot have enthused the Council and have got our minds whirling as to how it could be used to support the evolution of Cheltenham. It is important that we use this opportunity to build something that our town needs and can be proud of.
A priority for the Council is to continue making Cheltenham a place in which people of all ages want to live, work and play. This opens an opportunity to continue the great work that is being done towards this goal already, namely the Golden Valley Project, Minster Exchange project and other ongoing projects making Cheltenham the place to be.
Town centre living appeals to people of all ages
Trends are appearing that town centre living is becoming more appealing to people of all ages. Therefore, it is important to take note of this and continue our plans on using this property for mixed use with a strong focus on accommodation. At the heart of this development, our goal is to ensure that everyone benefits from Cheltenham’s growth and prosperity as well as making this town more modern and efficient, as per our Corporate Plan.
I’m sure we will all look back at Cavendish House nostalgically. But looking forward, the future for Cavendish House will inject some new life into our proud Promenade.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
