As part of The Local Answer’s 10-year anniversary celebrations, we’ve partnered with local businesses to give Gloucestershire charities and non-profit organisations the chance to win £2,000.

Sherbornes Solicitors are a law firm based in Cheltenham, founded by Darren Sherborne.

“I was born in Cheltenham and grew up here, as did my parents,” he said. “I left the town to serve in the army and to study, then I came back.

“I got into law because while doing an A Level at night school, a wonderful teacher took an interest in me and changed the entire direction of my life. Her name was Mrs Anton Smith.”

Darren now has 25 years of experience working in employment law and founded Sherbornes Solicitors a decade ago.

They specialise in business law and are one of the most trusted and reliable law firms in the county.

Their continued success over the years means that Darren and his team have been able to support local community projects, charities and other good causes, and it’s something he is passionate about.

“We try to give back as much as we can. It’s never enough,” continued Darren.

“We support education wherever possible. We have donated and raised funds for special needs schools as well as other local schools. We have funded private tuition for the 11+ exam, and we sponsor a local college. We are also proud to say that we never turn down a request for work experience for legal students.

“We also love sport, and sponsor both Hartpury College and Cheltenham North RFC.
In the recent past we have raised money for the Samaritans, for Cotswold Riding for the Disabled and we take on Pro Bono work for extreme cases where deserving cases would not get justice without it.

“I think it’s vital for local business to support local charity. It’s business that has the ability, and if they don’t, who will? More than anything, it’s our community, so it’s our responsibility.”
