Sportswear has become hugely popular amongst the fashion world. With high street stores launching their own ranges and celebrities endorsing them you have no excuse not to look and feel great whilst working out.

The sun is a great motivator – there is a noticeable flurry of people becoming more active in the summer months and, with brands such as Nike creating keep fit apps, there is plenty of encouragement to lead a healthy lifestyle. The biggest investment will be your trainers. Quality is paramount. Before buying consider what surface you will be working out on – wearing the wrong footwear can lead to future injuries. Despite the large price tag on most good trainers, these brands are very fashion conscious. You’ll find yourself wearing them both in and out of the gym! Check out popular brands such as Nike, Reebok, Asics, Adidas and New Balance.

A funky assortment of colours
You will find the majority of sportswear available in bright, visible neon colours so have fun with this, be playful with your choices and don’t be afraid to mix and match pieces. Geometric, graphic prints are very popular when it comes to active wear, available in a funky assortment of colours. The high street has produced a great range of their own capsule collections consisting of all your work out essentials for both men and women – sports bras, leggings, a variety of tops, shorts, vests and joggers.

H&M for women, endorsed by Kate Hudson, have a great sportswear collection at a fraction of the cost of big brands. These sportswear pieces have been cleverly cut to flatter and compliment contours of the body, and different fabrics are often used including quirky mesh panelling. Made in specialised breathable, lightweight fabrics, your work out session will be all the more comfortable.

For both men and women, other budget stores include F+F range at Tesco, M&S, Urban Outfitters and Gap – these have a noticeably higher price point.

Cycling is another great and popular form of exercise, especially during the summer months. For specialised cycling gear check out Rapha – a forward thinking label with an extensive range of active-wear. Not only does it include your standard cycling jerseys, shorts and shoes but a wide range of tailored shirts and trousers all designed with extra movability for cycling.

So be sure to get active in style this summer!
