Move over contouring, it’s time to start tantouring!

Here we are, hello 2016! Another year means another season of revived beauty trends, taken on by designers and make- up artists with a twist. They either haven’t been done before or have come back around on the trend cycle once more.

If you’ve only just mastered contouring, that’s unfortunate for you, because for 2016 you’ll need to master a new technique – tantouring! You are basically replacing your trusty bronzer with a subtle hint of fake tan to chisel those cheekbones! And in case you’re wondering, I’m not talking about popping some self-tan onto a mitt and rubbing into your face! Want to get that post-Christmas glow without the streaky stains to match? Ladies and gents, listen up...

Create a sheer luminous glow
To sculpt your face from here on out in 2016, tanning pro and popular brand James Read has announced his soon-to-be-released Tantour Sculpting Duo with other tanning brands no doubt following suit, and you know what that means? That means you have plenty of time to start mastering this new technique!

The unique duo features an illuminator and mineral bronzer infused with a hint of self-tan. You’ll be glad to know it’s suitable for both face and body (that includes you guys!). The first of its kind to market mineral contour bronzer, this product ultimately highlights the skin to create a sheer luminous glow with a satin pearl finish. Sound good? Thought so.

Back in 2015 – and I say that like it wasn’t just last month – there was a recent trend for the porcelain complexion, where paler skin was in fact seen as desirable. However, for those of us with less ivory than olive tones, who don’t desire the china doll look, this tanning duo couldn’t have come at a better time!

Eliminate the mess and stress of tanning
Mastering these new catwalk looks can be challenging at the best of times, but with innovative products such as this hitting the high street, it’s never been easier to recreate the Haute Couture of tanning to high street tanning! At the end result you want nothing more than a golden glow – a realistic finish, which looks like you may have gone and caught yourself some sun from the French Riviera, rather than look like you’ve emptied half a bottle of Rimmel self-tan onto your skin!

Another notable tanning product is St. Tropez’s ‘Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion’. This simply does what it says and goes on like a body wash, eliminating the mess – and the stress – at the same time. Rinse, pat dry, and tah-dah! You’re a glowing, healthy looking God or Goddess who is tastefully tanned.

So for those of you who may be skeptical about trying out this new tanning trend – and who can blame you with the memory of streaky ankles, stained palms, and an unattractive orange tinge flashing a warning sign in your mind— consider the new era of tan. The new tan, it seems, is an ‘un-tan’ – a subtle, barely sun-kissed luminosity that brings your dull, snowy skin to life.

Practice makes perfect, so now is the time to take on those YouTube tutorials and wake up to a new year with a gradually growing glow!
