Cheltenham-based rock band Second Self have issued a rallying call to their fans to help raise funds for the production of physical copies of their new album.

In an era when most music is downloaded, the band have received requests from their fans to produce CDs of their new album, which was released earlier this month.

Band member Janek Davis says the band have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the reaction to their latest release and says the demand from fans to get their hands on a CD of their new album has provided the band with a ‘huge confidence boost’.

Janek said: “The reaction to our new album has been fantastic, it makes all the hard work worth it I suppose. We’re lucky in the sense that we’ve had a loyal fan base from the very start who have been very supportive.

“Since people found out we were recording an EP, we’ve been asked repeatedly for physical copies. We’ve started a pledge campaign to get 100 CD copies of our EP made that are now available for sale on Pledgemusic.com.

“Our album was recorded at the awesome Coach House studios in Bristol, assisted by in-house producer and engineer, Tom Hackwell. It was an amazing, creative experience that we feel has managed to capture the essence of our band on record.

“The support that has been shown to us since day one has been unbelievable. If fans of ours are able to help out in any way towards this campaign, we would be truly humbled.”

The band, fresh from their appearance at the Frogfest Festival in Cheltenham last weekend, will also be appearing at another prestigious local music festival this coming Sunday.

Janek continued: “Frogfest was a lot of fun. You know what you’re going to get at the Frog & Fiddle, there’s always a great crowd of passionate music fans in there.

“We’re also excited about our next gig on Sunday. This is the first time we’ll be playing the Underground Festival at the Gloucester Guildhall. It’s great to be asked to perform alongside bands that have performed at all the major festivals this summer. We’re ambitious and one day we hope to be as successful as them.

“The Guildhall is an impressive venue, a lot of massive bands have played there over the years. Playing at new places is what we want to be doing.”
