Easter is just around the corner and if you’ve got kids that means there’s a two-week school holiday coming up.

If you’re stuck for ideas of what to do to keep them entertained over the break don’t worry – we’ve put together a handy roundup of all the best Easter activities going on around the county.

Cheltenham
Sue Ryder Easter ‘Egg’stravaganza – Sunday 14th April

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court opens its doors to host an Easter fun day within its stunning grounds, with a Treasure Hunt, face painting, glitter tattoos, decorate your own Easter Biscuit, Hook a Duck and Name the Bear all going on.

There’ll also be plenty of food, live music and even the chance to meet alpacas – all to raise funds for Sue Ryder nurses and the important work they do.

The Great Easter Egg Trail, Sandford Park – Saturday 20th April

Local charities Cobalt and Maggie’s have teamed up to create The Great Easter Egg Trail at Sandford Park in Cheltenham.

Children will be able to follow the clues to collect a chocolate prize at the end and see the Easter Bunny who will be making an appearance.



Gloucester
Easter Trail, Over Farm – Saturday 6th – Monday 22nd April

The Over Farm Easter Trail will take you on a short walk around the farm in search of the Easter bunny’s giant eggs.

There’s a small prize in store if you can crack the trail, so make sure to bring a pen or pencil along. Look out for the friendly animals along the way and don’t forget your wellies!

Eggsplore Easter, Gloucester Cathedral – Saturday 6th – Monday 22nd April

Gloucester Cathedral will be telling visitors the story of the very first Easter Day on their Discovery Trail.

You’ll be able to explore the Cathedral itself and at the end of it all there will be a free egg waiting for you at the gift shop.



Cotswolds
Big Batsford Bunny Hunt – Saturday 6th – Monday 22nd April

The Batsford Arboretum near Moreton-on-Marsh has taken the classic Easter Egg hunt and added a twist.

The Easter Bunny's helpers have escaped and they're hopping around the Arboretum – find them to win a prize!

Cotswold Farm Park Easter Eggstravaganza – Saturday 6th – Sunday 28th April

The Cotswold Farm Park will be holding an egg hunt with a prize for everyone involved.

There’s also the opportunity to meet bunnies, chicks, bottle feed lambs and feed goats – as well as live lambing throughout the holidays.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt, Chedworth Roman Villa – Friday 19th – Monday 22nd April

This Easter Egg hunt will give visitors the opportunity to explore the beautiful Roman Villa in Chedworth. Get close to nature over Easter weekend while you follow the clues on site to claim your prize.

There’ll also be a host of Easter craft activities at the Villa from Saturday 6th to Monday 22nd April, including making a mosaic tile and paper crafts.



North Gloucestershire
Sudeley Castle Easter Egg Trail – Saturday 6th – Tuesday 23rd April

Explore the rooms of Sudeley Castle to find all the naughty pheasant chicks that are hiding within.

Then head out to the Castle grounds to hunt for the Giant Easter Eggs that have appeared and collect a chocolatey surprise when you find them all.

Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway Easter Eggspress – Monday 22nd April

Hop aboard the train at either Cheltenham or Toddington for this event which takes place at Winchcombe station.

There’ll be a quiz, puzzles, bonnet making, an Easter Egg hunt and plenty of prizes to be won.



Stroud District
Berkeley Castle Easter Weekend – Friday 19th – Monday 22nd April

Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to experience fantastic dragon puppetry, get face-to-face with a baby dragon, and take part in the colourful Chinese Dragon Parade.

You can enjoy an Easter treat in the Yurt Tearoom, have your face painted by the Dragon face painter and call into the Education Room for Easter themed Arts & Crafts.

The Egg Thief at Painswick Rococo Gardens – Saturday 6th – Monday 22nd April

A brand-new trail created by local author and illustrator Hannah Shaw features an egg thief who has been stealing Easter eggs from some of her well-loved characters.

Young detectives will explore the Garden to track down the clues and identify the culprit, with a chocolate prize waiting for those who find him.

 

Mad Hatters Tea Party at Prinknash Bird and Deer Park – Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April

This year the team at Prinknash Bird and Deer Park will be asking visitors to choose a side – “Team Alice” or “Team Mad Hatter”.

No matter which team you choose, the park’s professional dance theatre artists will ensure you are transported to the world of Alice in Wonderland as you search the park for characters, play games and enjoy a Mad Hatter tea party.
