The Moreton-in-Marsh Show, one of the largest agricultural events held in Gloucestershire, gets underway in just over two weeks.

The annual show, held at the Batsford Estate on Saturday 1st September, is a celebration of countryside life, with animal shows, workshops on rural activities and over 350 stalls giving visitors the opportunity to purchase a huge range of goods.

Top of the bill at this year’s event is the dare-devil stunt rider Matt Coulter from Australia’s Gold Coast. Matt is a stunt rider who set one of his numerous Guinness World Records the last time he appeared at the show. There is talk that he will attempt to better that record on his return to the Grand Arena in 2018. The Grand Arena is also where you will see top class show jumping, ponies in fancy dress, heavy horses, sheepdog trialling, the straw challenge and the climax of the show – the Grand Parade of champion livestock.

Tom Knight, Press Officer for the Moreton-in-Marsh Show, says the show offers visitors a real glimpse into countryside life. He said: “The Moreton-in-Marsh Show is one of the biggest one-day agricultural shows in the country. Everything that you associate with the countryside is there on the show ground at the Batsford Estate.

“We’ve got a wonderful array of farm animals, from horses and cows through to beautiful little piglets. There’s so much going on throughout the day, from dry stone wall workshops, fencing demonstrations and dog shows plus many more activities for the whole family to enjoy.

“This year we’re delighted to be hosting over 350 trade stalls that will be selling everything from clothing, garden furniture and footwear right through to farm machinery such as tractors and combine harvesters. The trade stands will also be selling locally produced wine, beer and cider as well as fresh food. It’s all there in one place on one day.

“The Home and Garden marquee is always a major attraction because this is where you’ll always find the best in flowers, vegetables, handicrafts, wines and home baking – all entered in competitions. In the Cotswold Food Market there are cooking demonstrations which are always very popular. People who come to the show often remark that there’s so much to see and do, that’s what we’re all about.”
