The school term is in full swing meaning that homework is becoming a dreaded word for most children. Here are some top tips on how to make study time easier on your children and dare we say ‘fun’!
1. Set a specific time aside for homework every day
A really easy way to not make homework such a chore for your children is by setting a specific time aside every day. Having this dedicated time will not only make sure that your child is doing their homework but will also get them into a regular routine of studying.
2. Make homework rewards
You can offer small incentives or treats if they complete all their homework on time. Watch them actually want to do their homework!
3. Create an inspirational workspace
Create a unique but inspirational space for them to work in. Decorate with motivational posters and images that they like. By having their own special space dedicated to their studies, homework will be that little bit easier.
4. Get them to earn their screen/technology time
It’s crucial to make sure that your children complete their homework before they have any screen/technology time. Earning their recreational time will teach your children the valuable lesson that they need to work hard first, then have time to relax and enjoy themselves.
5. Make sure they are having regular breaks
Children should be taking short breaks every 20 minutes to half an hour when studying. This ensures that their brain isn’t trying to take too much in at once.
6. Do homework with them
If your child is struggling it’s always a great idea to sit with them and help them work through their homework. However, be careful not to do it for them! Offering guidance and support will be a lot more beneficial than just giving them the answers.
7. Give them space if they need it
At the same time as being there for them, you also need to judge when your child needs their own space and time to get on with their studies. Some children work better when they have their own personal time to work.
8. Be encouraging and positive
The most important tip of all is to be positive and encourage your child to complete their homework. Tell them how well they are doing and that their hard work isn’t going unnoticed.Other Images
