Gloucestershire’s tennis ladies are promotion aces

Gloucestershire’s ladies dodged the showers to reign supreme during county tennis week.

The week, hosted by East Glos Club, saw them gain promotion to Division Six.

The team led by Esther Curtis, who is also an East Glos Club coach, defeated Dorset 7-2, North of Scotland 7-2, Bedfordshire 8-1 and Herefordshire and Worcestershire 8-1.

Meanwhile, East Glos will once again be hosting the British Seniors Closed Grass Court Championships. This year they’re hosting the 35-55 age groups which run from Sunday 13th to Saturday 19th August.

The number of people playing tennis in Britain has risen this summer, according to figures released by the LTA. They said 131,019 more people played tennis in June 2017 than in June 2016.
