Sharpness climbed into the top three of the County League with a 2-0 win at Ruardean Hill Rangers.

The visitors were first to threaten with Dan Gayner having his shot well saved by Aaron Underwood on 11 minutes and they went even closer just before half time when Will Lacey hit the crossbar from a Dan Gayner cross.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 85th minute when Mason gave away a penalty and Dan Gayner scored from the resultant spot kick.

Rangers also lost Steve Combs with a straight red card for protesting against the decision and Bobby Walding was then sent to the sin-bin in the 88th minute leaving Rangers with nine players. And in the 89th minute Dan Gayner ran onto an Underwood clearance kick to slot his second and seal the points.

Gala Wilton, who have made such an impressive start to the season, went down by the odd goal in five at home to leaders Wick.

Wick capitalised on a poor defensive mistake in the 14th minute and Sean Morris drove the ball into the net. Gala hit back to level in the 21st minute when Martin Smith squared the ball back for Craig Howell to drive home.

Wick retook the lead in the 36th minute from a long goal kick that was flicked on to Jordan Scott whose shot struck the inside of the post on its way in.

The home side found themselves trailing 3-1 when they lost the ball in midfield and Joe Thomas burst through to score. Gala did pull a goal back from a James Bowers free-kick but they were unable to find the back of the Wick net again.

Quedgeley Wanderers trailed 2-1 at Patchway Town at half time but bounced back after the break to win 4-2.

Patchway took the lead on 11 minutes after a mix-up in the Wanderers defence and Phil Vice intercepted a poor back pass, rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into an empty net.

Wanderers levelled on 34 minutes when Henry Birkett got to the by-line and cut the ball back to Dan Lander to slip the ball past Burgess.

A stroke of fortune a minute before the break allowed Patchway to retake the lead. Another back pass saw the keeper attempt to clear but he slipped and Joss Morris was on hand to stroke the ball home.

Wanderers levelled again on 58 minutes when Karl James-Bryan struck the ball past Burgess from just inside the box.

Henry Birkett, who had an outstanding game, made it 3-2 on 65 minutes when he broke down the right, cut into the box and drove the ball past Burgess from 12 yards.

Nathan Payne netted the fourth goal on 70 minutes but it wasn’t all good news for Quedgeley because they picked up two serious injuries which saw both Dave Cummings (cut head) and James Thomas (leg) taken to hospital.

Other results: Bromley Heath v Hardwicke, post; Hanham Ath v Broadwell Ams, post; Little Stoke 2 AEK Boco 1; Rockleaze R 1 Henbury 0.
