Oxfordshire 83 all out (28 overs)
Gloucestershire 84-1 (25 overs)
Gloucestershire won by nine wickets

Gloucestershire Under-11s made it two wins from two this season with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Oxfordshire at Thornbury CC.

A fine effort in the field – which included three run outs - made sure the home side bowled the visitors out for 83 before knocking them off for the loss of just one wicket.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first Gloucestershire got off to a great start when James Austen (Winterbourne) ran out one of the Oxfordshire openers for six.

Luke Hope (Great Rissington) bowled tightly, conceding just seven from his four overs. This set the standard for the rest of the attack who didn’t give anything away all afternoon. Wickets were shared around with Jacob Stevenson (Bristol YMCA), Freddie Collinson (Gloucester City Winget), Lysander Tarrant (Bourton Vale), Beau Griffin (Charlton Kings) and Billy Benson (Dumbleton) all picking up a wicket each. Further run outs from Max Dunne (Frocester) and Austen with his second ensured Oxfordshire were all out for 83 in the 28th over.

In reply Gloucestershire got off to a steady start thanks to a solid opening stand of 44 from Austin (24 not out) and Gus Roberts (24) (Aston Ingham). The pair rotated the strike well before pouncing on anything loose and dispatching it to the boundary. Roberts was eventually stumped off the bowling of Niyarspola with 40 still needed for victory. This brought Woody Walker (Cirencester) to the crease and he wasted no time in knocking off the rest of the runs hitting 27 off of 27 balls including four boundaries.

The U11s next game is away to Gwent on 30th May.

Gloucestershire Under 13 Girls v Wales Under 13 Girls (at Colstons’ School)
ECB Women’s County League, Division A, Group 4
Gloucestershire 132-9 (35 overs)
Wales 111 all out (32.3 overs)
Gloucestershire won by 21 runs

Sarah Walsh (Frenchay) top-scored with 41 as Gloucestershire Under-13 Girls continued their impressive start to the season with a well-fought 21 run win over Wales.

The home side had to battle back from 5-3 after losing the toss and being put in to bat.

Gloucestershire got back into the game with a 39 run partnership between Issy Patel (Frenchay) and Annabella Phipps (Dumbleton) who both made 18 before a further collapse saw the hosts fall to 59-7 before the 18-over drinks break.

This bought Walsh and Katie Jones (22) (Dumbleton) to the crease and together they put on a match winning partnership of 55 that enabled their side to post 132 from their 35 overs.

In reply Wales lost their first wicket to the first ball of the innings as Lottie Gilderson (1-3 from 5 overs) (Dumbleton) struck thanks to a good catch by Freya Clark (Tewkesbury) at square leg. The visitors lost two more early wickets to slip to 23-3 but recovered to 65-3 at the halfway point in the innings

Immediately after the break Patel (1-11) bowled Phillips (15) and suddenly the hosts were in the driving seat as Wales faltered to 80-9.

Wickets were shared around with Clark, Walsh, Phipps taking one each. Captain Bea Ellis (3-11) (Charlton Kings) then struck the decisive blow as Wales were bowled out for 111.

South Gloucestershire Under 12 Boys v Cheltenham and Cotswolds Under 12 Boys (at Chalford CC)
South Gloucestershire 106-9 (30 overs)
Cheltenham and Cotswolds 107-8 (23.2 overs)
Cheltenham and Cotswolds won by six wickets

Cheltenham and Cotswold (C&C) Under 12s scraped home to a two-wicket win over Stroud and South Gloucestershire (SSG) U12s after chasing down their target of 107 in the 23rd over.

A composed 30 not out from Charlie Brook (Cirencester) helped his side recover from 77-7 to get over the line in the face of some great SSG bowling.

Earlier SSG batted first and never really recovered from the early blow of being reduced to 7-2 thanks to two wickets for Brook (2-9).

Tom King (15) (Carsons & Mangotsfield) fought hard but SSG looked dead and buried at 62-9 as Harry Dawson (2-11) (Cheltenham) and two run outs contributed to the home side’s woes.

But a 10th-wicket partnership of 43 between Jacob Moore (17) (Painswick) and Harry Ahearne (Cirencester) (20) meant SSG battled back to post a defendable 105-9.

In reply C&C lost an early wicket but recovered through Harry Brownless (22) (Cirencester) and Alfie Griffin (14) (Charlton Kings).

But from 40-3, C&C collapsed to 77-7 with Caden Harris (2-19) (Winterbourne) the pick of the bowlers. However, despite excellent bowling from the home attack Brooks held his nerve to lead his side to victory in the 24th over.

SSG U12s have now won one and lost one while Cheltenham and Cotswolds U12s have won both their games so far. The next round of fixtures takes place on Bank Holiday Monday with SSG taking on Gloucester and the Forest of Dean and C&C playing Bristol.

Bristol Under 11 Boys v Stroud and South Gloucestershire Under 11 Boys (at Frenchay)
Bristol 122-8 (30 overs)
Cheltenham and Cotswolds 123-4 (26 overs)
Cheltenham and Cotswolds won by six wickets

Cheltenham and Cotswolds Under 11s beat Bristol by six wickets after chasing down their target of 123 with four overs to spare.

Significant contributions from Charlie Watkins (37) (Charlton Kings), William Merrett (33 not out) (Lechlade) and Daniel Hammond (20 not out) saw the visitors recover from 37-3 after Charlie Wernham (2-20) (Bishopston) had made early breakthroughs.

Earlier, having lost the toss and been put into bat, Bristol made 122-8 thanks to a fine half century from Laurie Wilson (41) (Bristol YMCA) and Louis Nancekivell (21).
