For style and fashion, this is the in between season where winter is still with us, yet spring seems not far off. So, what to buy and what to wear?
Valentine’s Day for him and her
How many times have our partners paid a fortune for a flimsy item of underwear we have to look pleased with, yet know it will hardly ever be worn? Why not celebrate this Valentine’s Day with a more thoughtful, useful item that will not end up at the back of the wardrobe?
Handbags are a good idea, as you could pop a little personal surprise item inside, which will make them think of you whenever they open it. Jewellery lasts a long time and does not have to be expensive. Who doesn’t love to open a little well-wrapped box? The contents will be appreciated, as well as the thought. This works for us girls as well. Why not buy him a cute pair of cufflinks he will always associate with you? Socks are boring, but if you take the time to get them monogrammed, he knows you have been thinking about him.
If you feel loungewear is the only way to go, then a lovely his and her robe might just tick all the right boxes. Whatever you decide, it really is the thought that counts on February 14th.
Red is the colour
For those of you who like red, you are in for a treat! The shops will have every shade imaginable to tempt you, from rich scarlet to deep rose. Red certainly makes a striking entrance – even our Prime Minister has been to several social events sporting red. It is a colour that can flatter most age groups and colouring. I would hesitate to invest in a bright red coat – unless you can afford several – as, once seen, it will be easily remembered and you might tire of it sooner than a less striking shade.
Sleeves are back
Designers have at last listened to the wailing of many women who complain most dresses are sleeveless, and they are conscious of their upper arms. Bell sleeves, tapered sleeves, three quarter sleeve – you name it, they’ve done it. And all available to suit every arm shape – how refreshing to have a great choice. It does go to show that designers do listen. After all, they want to sell their clothes, not have them sitting on the shop floor.
Ankle boots
Short boots are here for another season right through spring. From leather to suede, as well as fabric boots with incredible designs, many will take you from day to evening. For a really dressy look, velvet and sparkly ankle boots can dress up even the most simple of outfits. Many are quite comfortable, which is wonderful to have on a night out, as you need not think about how your feet are killing you!
Scarves & poncho’s
These are great access-ories to keep you stylish and cosy when you might not want to wear a heavy coat at this time of year. Both items can be found in every shade and fabric imaginable. Ideal to toss on to any coat, jacket or jumper you have and give it a whole new look for very little cost. These items will see you right through spring, which thankfully is around the corner.Other Images
