The annual Open-Air Theatre Festival hosted by the Bacon Theatre is a popular event for family audiences in Cheltenham.

Held every summer at the Tuckwell Amphitheatre at Dean Close School, the festival provides a mixture of live theatre, film and music.

This year the theatre line-up includes The HandleBards, the environmentally friendly theatre group who cycle to every performance and will be bringing their take on ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ to the festival.

Also appearing are Heartbreak Productions with ‘Gangsta Granny’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’, and Gloucestershire-based Open-Air Theatre Festival veterans Jenny Wren Productions with ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’.

For film buffs, the ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ will be showing the BAFTA nominated ‘Stan and Ollie’, the classic musical ‘Moulin Rouge’ and the critically acclaimed documentary ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’.

There will also be music on offer, with Peter Gill returning his ever-popular Swinging Summer Evening, plus Opera Anywhere with their production of ‘The Mikado’, amongst others.

The Open-Air Theatre Festival takes place from Tuesday 16th July to Thursday 1st August.
