Randwick, who also have a thriving youth section, host Old Richians in Stroud League Division One tomorrow

Stroud League Division One high-fliers Randwick host Old Richians on Saturday looking to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.

The go-ahead club have won four and drawn one of their opening five games and are tucked in just behind leaders Dursley Town who have the same playing record but whose goal difference of plus 11 is one better than Randwick’s.

Randwick’s supporters will be confident of picking up another three points on Saturday against a team who have made an indifferent start to the campaign.

Old Richians have won two and lost two of their opening four games, leaving them in seventh in the 12-strong division.

Their most recent outing was a 5-0 defeat at home to unbeaten Tredworth Tigers, who are in third spot with 10 points from four games.

Randwick manager Wayne Bown, who is in his fourth season in charge of the club’s flagship team, is delighted with the start that they have made to the campaign and winning the title and with it promotion to the Northern Senior League is very much part of the plan.

“That’s something we definitely want, that would be the cherry on the icing of the cake,” said Bown.
